Electric tram in Island Bay

Double-decker electric tram No. 10 at the end of the line in Island Bay. Tram lines to Island Bay were placed in 1905 following the amalgamation of the Melrose Borough with Wellington City, and the population of these southern suburbs started to grow. Few houses can be seen in the background of this image on Derwent Street.
