Courtenay Place busy with pedestrians and vehicles in c. 1924. At this time the 'De Luxe Theatre' (later known at the 'Embassy') has been constructed but is lacking the signage and embellishments that would be present on opening day in October 1924.
An electric tram (centre) is bound for Karori and cars are parked along both sides of the street, with Tory Street intersecting partway down. Visible signage for stores include advertising for Nestle products (far right), W. L. Hoosen, United Artists Limited, and Te Aro Seed Company (left, on the corner of Tory Street).
