The Belmont Viaduct, north of Johnsonville, was part of the North Island Main Trunk Line until the 1930s when the Tawa Flat deviation was built. The structure was eventually demolished in 1951.
Suburban development in this area followed and concrete remains of the structure can still be seen in the valley of Seton Nossiter Park in Grenada Village.
