Fletcher Construction Company, Cable Street

Staff from Fletcher Construction posing for a photograph in front of their vehicle fleet in Cable Street. It is presumed they operated from the smaller building on the right, though they may have leased space from the Colonial Carrying Company next door. 

Both buildings were later occupied by Odlins Timber Yard and Pinex Centre; C & Odlin had been operating from premises nearby for some decades already. In 1985 Odlins Limited was purchase by Winstone Limited, who were in turn acquired by Fletcher Challenge Building. The site was demolished c. 1987 and is now home to the Tākina Convention Centre.
