Edith Louisa Weston reading in a chair on the front lawn of Dransfield House in Willis Street. Mrs. Weston had leased the property in the 1890s following the death of her husband Warwick Weston, though only lived here for two or three years. The 18-roomed house on the corner of Willis and Able Smith Street was later sold in 1896.
The Westons had four sons; it is possible the boy in the photograph is the youngest, William Gordon Weston.
The garden pictured fronted Willis Street, and Wordsworth Street (later named Aro Street) can be seen in the background.
