This map was created in 1919 using information supplied by Elsdon Best and H N (Hector Norman) McLeod. It was originally published in the Journal of the Polynesian Society of which Best was a founding member and subsequently reprinted in his book, The Land of Tara and they who settled it. This book has also been digitised on this platform and can be viewed here.
