Marching band at Parliament

A marching band entering Parliament Grounds from Molesworth Street in Thorndon. Crowds are kept behind temporary fences and construction workers watch on from their work site at the Court of Appeal. Servicemen from the New Zealand Army are also stationed on Molesworth Street.

Although this photograph is undated, the construction of the Court of Appeal indicates it was taken around 1977. In that year Queen Elizabeth II 'opened' the Beehive at Parliament to much fanfare; it is possible this image is from that event.
