Moving into the Central Library, 1940

Rongotai College students assist with the move from the original Municipal Library across the road to the new Central Library on the 9th of February 1940.

The 514 boys moved 60,000 books during their school day as organised between the Wellington City Council and Rongotai College principal Mr F.M. Renner. Students were transported into the city and back to school on trams and given a one-year subscription to the library for their efforts.
