A pamphlet promoting on-shore excursions for passengers travelling on the M.S. Willem Ruys while the vessel was visiting Wellington. Owned and operated by the Dutch shipping line, Royal Rotterdam Lloyd, the ship operated both as a cruise boat and as an immigrant passenger vessel primarily bringing Dutch migrants to Australia and New Zealand between 1959 and 1964. In 1965, with passenger numbers declining with the gradual winding-down of assisted-passage migrant schemes and the start of the 'jet age', the boat was removed from this service, modernised and renamed the M.S. Achille Lauro. The vessel was later infamously hijacked by terrorists in 1985 while operating as a cruise liner in the Mediterranean Sea.
