This issue of New Zealand Commercial Design Trends included a special feature on the Wellington Central Public Library / Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui shortly after it opened in December 1991. The interior design, fixtures and fittings as shown in the article remained in situ until the library closed due to seismic concerns in March 2019. Also included is another article from the same issue titled Going Underground featuring 'Metro', a nightclub located below street level in the 'Mid-City Centre', a cinema and retail complex located at 12-18 Manners Street. This building was later refurbished to become the headquarters of the Department of Conservation and also housed the temporary inner-city library branch, Arapaki from May 2019 to September 2024.
