Warmoll's Outfitting Establishment

Wooden buildings on the corner of Lambton Quay and Willis Street housing "Warmoll's Outfitting Establishment". Built on 'Clay Point' (the rugged shoreline at the southern end of Lambton Quay), the store opened in 1858 and sold clothing, matresses and bedding until it closed in 1972. The property exchanged hands several times until it was purchased by David Stewart Dawson in 1900, with the intersection subsequently becoming known as 'Stewart Dawson's Corner'.

An unidentified person has written over the top of the original: "The sea came up to within 12 feet of this [unreadable] house, and would have touched the door of this present front, if the beach had not been reclaimed. - J.H. [surname unreadable]".
