Description

A ceremony held at Te Aro Park (then known as Pigeon Park) on the morning of 10th June 1979 marking the 140th anniversary of the first Wesleyan (Methodist) service which was held on the site (then part of Te Aro Pā) on 9th June 1839. The ceremony was organised by the Taranaki Street Methodist Church. The background of the first service and its connection to Te Aro Pā is detailed in this centennial publication from 1941.
