A muddy Lambton Quay with a single set of tram tracks in the running down the centre. Horses with carts or gigs are 'parked' on either side of the street.
On the far left is the Oxford Hotel, which ran in this building from 1882 to 1887. It subsequently became the home of the Club Hotel. Next door (across Johnston Street) is Moeller's Occidental Hotel.
