A photograph which has been hand-painted in order to colourise it. Painted by H. N. McLeod for his scrapbook Industrial Facilities at Miramar, though its possible he also used it in advertisements his company Hector McLeod & Co. which was active in selling land in the Miramar.
The photograph was taken on the hill behind the Wellington Gas Company, facing towards the emerging township of Miramar. It shows a tea kiosk at the corner of Miramar Avenue and King's Road (now Portsmouth Road). A fence in the foreground to the left is the southern boundary of McLeod's own property.
