Herbert William Williams (1860–1937) was an Anglican bishop, missionary and scholar of the Māori language. He published a greatly-revised dictionary of Māori and worked closely with Āpirana Ngata to gain greater official recognition of the language. Williams was president of the Royal Society of New Zealand (1935–36) and of the Polynesian Society from 1929 until his death.
