Royal Tiger Hotel, 190 - 194 Taranaki Street

Description

The Royal Tiger pub located on the corner of Taranaki and Abel Smith streets. It replaced the original Royal Tiger Hotel which was demolished c. 1961 to allow for the widening of Taranaki Street. Constructed as a temporary facility, the building was later moved to the edge of Mt Albert Park in Berhampore where it became a smallbore target rifle shooting club. It was later destroyed by fire and replaced with a purpose-built target shooting facility which continues to be known as the Royal Tiger Range. A new Royal Tiger Hotel was built on this site which can be seen here.
