An open letter to the Minister of Labour, Bill Sullivan

An open letter to the Minister of Labour in National Government, William "Bill" Sullivan. Printed as a leaflet to be handed out to the public, the letter rejects the Government's suggestion that watersiders should join the new break-away group, the Wellington Maritime Cargo Workers Union. It also states how the watersiders are not striking but were "locked-out" after refusing to work overtime at what they regard as low penal rates. It also explains how rising prices is reducing the standard of living (high inflation being one of the principle causes of industrial unrest at the time).  Bill Sullivan was also minister of  employment, mines, immigration and, from 1953, housing.
