Published the year after the first section of Wellington's electrified tramway network opened in 1904, this article published in the London-based journal The Tramway and Railway World gives an excellent overview of the system and the history of its commissioning. Of particular interest are the details of the tramway power station (constructed on the site of what was to later become the Michael Fowler Centre car park) and the massive tram sheds (over 100 metres in length) constructed in Mansfield Street, Newtown (later to become the site of the Newtown Park council flats).
