The former 'Reference Library' in the 'old' Wellington Central Public Library in Mercer Street shortly before it opened in 1940 (later to become the City Art Gallery in 1993). This was briefly used as a reference library before becoming a more general non-fiction lending area. Today this room forms the south gallery on the first floor of the City Art Gallery.
