Returns Desk, Wellington Central Public Library

The returns desk within what was known as the 'Popular Library' in the 'old' Wellington Central Public Library (later to become the City Art Gallery in 1993). This was used as a general circulation area to issue and return books, where the public-access catalogue card cabinets where kept and the main fiction lending collection was shelved.  Today this room forms the foyer gallery on the ground floor of the City Art Gallery.
