Wellington, a comprehensive guide : the capital city of New Zealand

This visitors guide to Wellington was likely the first to be printed following the end of the Second World War during which the production of such publications was restricted for economic and security reasons. As international tourism was essentially non-existent in the immediate post-war period, this guide would have been aimed at domestic visitors and to introduce the city to new residents. This time marked the start of a large increase in the number of people (particulary discharged soldiers) moving to Wellington from the regions looking for work. 

Note that there is a variation between the cover title and the formal title given on the title page.
