The Glyde Skating Rink was a non-refrigerated bitumen-sealed rink for roller skating which opened in May 1931.
Note the reverse-angle parking being used by cars. This was the required method to park cars in the inner-city as it made 'pulling out' safer (giving better visibility of on-coming traffic).
