Wellington Municipal Abattoir, Ngauranga

The municipal freezing works at Ngauranga. Note that the original print was enhanced by hand-painting in highlights to increase contrast for reproduction in a magazine, newspaper or similar publication. The City Council continued to have a shareholding in the abattoir until the early 1990s after which this was sold to Taylor Preston Ltd who continue to operate a freezing works on the same site to the present day.
