The former Methodist (i.e. Wesleyan) Church once located at c. 94 Manners Street. To the left of the church is the parsonage (i.e. minister's residence) and in the distance to the left of that is the market hall (i.e. Wellington's covered market; later to become the site of the Royal Oak Hotel and finally 'The Oaks' shopping arcade). All of these buildings were destroyed by fire in the 'Great Fire of 1879' (15th June 1879) after which a new church was built at 75 Taranaki Street
The history of this church is covered in the centennial history available to read here.
