The first portion of this history of St John's covering the period of 1847 to 1925 was originally written by the Rev John Arlidge who was vicar of the church from 1950 to 1953 though it is believed that a significant portion of his work was based on the research by his wife who came from the well-known 'Hogg' family of Johnsonville. Minor additions to this as well as the history of the church from 1925 were researched and written by Jim Bentall.
