Some links have been made between this moa and the several moa that were on show at the 1924 British Empire Exhibition at Wembley. In 1927 The Canberra Times (see external link below) refers to this particular model, however other articles of the time offer varying accounts of who the creator(s) were.

Note: the attached article from the Evening Post, 15 September 1972 was added to this page in January 2026. It confirms the provenance of the sculpture and names Edward Seager as the creator.
