The Lie of the Land, Ruth Watson

Ruth Watson's mural represents a current view of the Wellington foreshore from The Terrace, yet the terrain and buildings are built out of images and texts from the city's history. It is "a representation of history, with its gaps of memory and unheard voices. It attempts to intersect the present anf this past". (from artist's proposal March 1991).
