Commissioned by the Department of Justice.

The 'Maihi' passage on the left-hand side shws the shaping of the land by two taniwha, Whataitai and Ngake, the original occupation of the region by Ngāti Tara and Ngāti Ira and the original migration of Māori tribal groups from the north to Wellington in the early 1800's. The vertical section represents the change caused by European occupation and contemporary development. The 'Maihi' passage on the right-hand side refers to the justice system and how different cultures are included in one common legal system in Aotearoa.
