Police raid 3 restaurants

Details of the police mass-raid on local Wellington restaurants (including The Tulip) that took place on Saturday 13th June 1959. The businesses were raided as selling wine to diners eating in restaurants was essentially illegal as there was no means by which they could obtain on-licences which were the preserve of 'hotels' (i.e. pubs).
