TitleThe Wellington More Men Fund: The Brough ContributionCollectionLocal Theatre in WellingtonDate 1900Place of originWellingtonDescription
Theatre production programme for the matinee of 'Dandy Dick', held at the Wellington Opera House on the 21st of March 1900. This was a fundraising effort organised and directed by Mr. Robert Brough for the Wellington More Men Fund. His series of performances around the nation raised £700.
The More Men Fund was opened shortly after the start of the Boer War in 1899. Many New Zealanders felt that the Government was not providing enough funding to send a large and well-equipped contingent to South Africa and took it upon themselves to raise the money required to support NZ troops and the British Empire.
