A souvenir booklet from the 1941 'Victory Queen Carnival'; a pageant held as a fundraiser (and morale-booster) during the Second World War. During the 'coronation ceremony' Queen and Princess titles were awarded to local women who had been competing for votes.
Notably the Queen of Hutt Valley title was given to Takau Tinirau Makea Rio Love (in this publication as Mrs. E.T.W. Rio Love, after her husband Ererua Te Whiti o Rongomai Love), who had been appointed the year prior as Makea Nui Ariki of Rarotonga.
