Plan of the First Subdivision of the Cashmere Estate (Khandallah)

The subdivision plan produced by a property syndicate, The Cashmere Estate Company in 1909 advertising the sale of 'lots' which had been subdivided the previous year.  What is shown as St Lawrence Crescent became known as Ranui Crescent along its entire length. In 1925 Awa Road became Indus Street while Kupe Terrace became Mandalay Terrace as part of a programme to remove duplicated street names following the amalgamation of the Onslow Borough into Wellington City in 1919. The proposed Moera Road and its surrounding area was never developed for housing but was acquired by the Wellington Education Board to become the site of Cashmere Avenue School. The proposed access route of Victoria Road shown on the locality plan was never created but the intention was that it was to follow the Kaiwharawhara Bridle Track created in the 1840s.
