The Scholefield Papers
This collection of over 6000 pages of original letters and family trees was assembled under the direction of Guy Hardy Scholefield (1877 - 1963). They were compiled around the time of the New Zealand centennial celebrations held in 1940 which marked the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. The papers resulted from the creation of a 'pioneer roll'; the concept being that anyone whose family was established in the Wellington Province up to 1855 would be eligible for inclusion.

The search box below acts as an 'exact phrase' search of individuals named and recorded within the collection. Please use the search term syntax of Surname First-name with a single space between the two (do not insert a comma). You may use surname-only to find all those within a family but using first-name initials may result in zero hits. After running a search, click on "Page Hits Preview" to access your search results. If you find a relevant record, we suggest checking previous & subsequent pages as further genealogical information may be included on these. The primary family name of each section is also 'bookmarked' in a column to the right of the viewing screen.
You can also search for a specific ship's name where these have been recorded using the syntax Ship Ship's-name (e.g. Ship Cuba ). Return to this page to run further Scholefield Collection-specific searches.
